Most of the film studios including Filmcity, Filmistan, Mehboob and Filmalaya either had no bookings for shooting or cancelled their scheduled shoots.

"Due to bandh no shoots for movies or TV serials were scheduled for today. There was no booking as well," Vidya Zode, assistant accountant at Filmcity, told PTI.

A similar situation was witnessed at Filmistan, Filmalaya and other studios. "Though there was no shooting of popular TV shows and movies, early morning a show for national channel Doordarshan was held. Few people from Shiv Sena had come to enquire but then they went," Ravi Shrivastav, at the Filmalaya studio said.

Even channels like Sony Entertainment, Star Plus and Colors had very few shoots for some of their TV serials early this morning on their respective sets.

"We had shot for two of our serials 'Saas Bina Sasural' and 'Kya Hua Tera Wada' early morning on our sets at Madh Island (Malad) and at Chandivali," an official from Sony Entertainment Channel said.

"Shooting for two of our shows took place on the sets at Madh Island and Mira Road. But due to bandh and Telly Chakar awards, shooting for most of popular shows like 'Parichay', 'Balika Vadhu', 'Sasural Simar Ka' and 'Chhal' did not take place," sources from Colors said.

The opposition parties called for a nationwide bandh after the government hiked petrol prices recently by Rs 7.50 per litre, taking the price of petrol to Rs 78.57 per litre in Mumbai.
