With reports of women violated everyday at highrises and university fests and public transports, a group of young Tollywood film professionals now embarks on a campaign with a short film screened at restaurants and other places symbolically ahead of the 'World Environment Day' for a better environment in every sense.
'The Right to NO', directed by two idealist young film makers Abesh Banerjee and Areetra Dutta, talks about certain situations like warding off a prying hand in an autorickshaw with a slap, saying a firm no to the partner in a party when he orders to join drink, and protesting the unsolicited advances of a colleague-boss in workplace.
"We had mostly taken non-actors excepting someone like young actor Aryann Roy but all could possibly relate with the situations as every single girl would do," the duo, who had been with film projects of critically acclaimed Bengali film director Ringo Bannerjee as part of the production team, said.
To a question if the film was in response to recent incidents of gangrape of a girl at Hooghly, the abuse of a girl by her facebook male friends on date in Bansdroni and the alleged molestation of a Jadavpur University girl student, they said, "It is related to changing mindset and certain stereotypes concerning women which needs to change. As brothers we need to protect our sisters and give them a far secure environment in every sense of the term."
Aimed at incorporating 'Force' among women of all ages, the short film, shot by Abhishek Paul, is built upon three themes - respect/honour/dignity, Rima Das, an initiator of the campaign, said.
Actor Aryann Roy said "The men in the society need to stand by the women to support a movement like The Right To No. Together we fight for the sake of humanity".

"Let others - both women as well as men - like the page and share it on their timeline. Let the campaign motivate other girls. Let there be a secure world for our sisters," Areetra said.
"And let the stereotyped thoughts about women go for a toss," Rima chipped in.
The four young campaigners and other commited members of their teams are also visiting college, university women's study cells, and have support from several social activists, actors and some speciality restaurants.
