On Monday last, the 74-year-old filmmaker-turned- politician was admitted to the Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Hospitals where he was operated for kidney failure, sepsis (blood poisoning) and respiratory problems.
"Shri Dasari Narayana Rao Garu is recovering very well. He is sitting on the chair and breathing on his own, requiring minimal ventilatory support now and then. His kidney function is improving, he is not on dialysis any more. His infection is under control with antibiotics," Sreedhar Reddy, cardiac surgeon in KIMS Hospitals, said in a statement.
