Chopra, who originally hails from Jammu and Kashmir, said he had spent formative years of his life in Srinagar, where he obtained his school and college education.
He had therefore felt moved to produce a film depicting the saga of Kashmir during the last 25 years, particularly in the backdrop of the plight of displaced Kashmiri Pandit community, a press release issued by the Minister's office said.
