Films to empower national tobacco control programme

The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, (MoHFW) today released two training films developed specifically for police, NGOs and youth agencies as well as supplement the ongoing capacity-building efforts of the government in the area.

"MoHFW accords high priority to capacity building as a critical component of National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP). These training resources have the potential to expand tobacco control in our country through multi-sectoral engagement and involvement" Joint Secretary, MoHFW, Shakuntala Gamlin.

After each session of training, local experts can interact with audience. The two films currently available are in English, Telugu and Gujarati and comes with a handbook so that the training session could be played out effectively in a field setting.

A handbook titled "Implementation of National and State Tobacco Control Laws and FCTC in India" developed by PHFI and Health Related Information Dissemination Amongst Youth was also released today. MORE
