"The task force meeting was held today. All the representatives of the stakeholders were present and we had a very detailed and frank discussion," Information and Broadcasting Secretary Uday Kumar Varma said here.

He was speaking to reporters after the I&B Ministry's task force on digitalisation reviewed the progress made in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata, where the cable sector is supposed to go completely digital from July 1.

"The task force took note of all the information that it has received from the stakeholders. We are also in touch with the state governments, and after considering all these things, we will come to a conclusion," Varma said.

"May be by next week, we will make the position public," he said.

Varma also said that during the meeting, some stakeholders sought postponement of the digitalisation deadline.

"Some suggestions have come, some stakeholders have sought extension, some have said that do not give extension, some are of the view that extension will not be given but may be that we give some relaxation in implementing this thing," Varma said.
