An FIR was today registered against Director of Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport here for violation of election code by allowing putting up of posters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah in the premises when polling is underway.
Patna District Magistrate Pratima S Verma told PTI that the FIR was registered under sections of Defecaement of Property Act.
A show cause was issued to the airport director Rajendra Singh Lahoria for concealing rules which prohibited putting up of election posters and banners in the airport premises during poll and allowing display of posters.
The reply to the show cause was not found satisfactory and hence a case was registered against Lahoria, she added.
The FIR was lodged against airport director with Airport police station on the basis of report of executive magistrate Nilu Paul, station house officer of the police station, said.
Leaders of grand secular alliance had moved Election Commission on Wednesday for removal of the posters from the airport saying they were "flagrant violation of norms".
Following this, the airport authority had yesterday ordered removal of all election banners and posters from the premises.
But, state election office took exception to the violation of its rules in this regard and asked the district administration to act against it.
