The First Information Report (FIR) was filed with the police last week, DGCA sources said today.
"During a surveillance check at the Delhi airport recently, some 50 liquor bottles were removed from the business jet operated by the company. Since carrying/serving liquor on board domestic flights is prohibited, an FIR has been filed with the police for the offence," sources said.
The company was to operate the luxury business jet to Pune from Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport at the time DGCA officials carried out the check, they said.
As part of its aviation safety mechanism, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) conducts frequent surveillance checks on airlines, non-scheduled operators as well as airport and MRO operators to ensure that the standard demonstrated at the time of issue of aviation documents, such as approval certificate, license, rating, among others is maintained on a continuous basis.
The primary responsibility of the DGCA is safety oversight, and to meet this obligation, DGCA implements an annual Surveillance Programme (ASP), covering all aviation activities.
