The authorities have stayed the transfer of two policemen here and lodged a case against a couple which had fought with them after CCTV footage revealed that the cops were not at fault, an official said Wednesday.
Shobha Bansal and her husband Sudeep had had a heated altercation with policemen at Polo Ground intersection Monday night, following which an Assistant Sub-Inspector and a head constable were 'line-attached' (removed from field duty).
However, CCTV footage showed that the woman purportedly started the fight, a police official said.
Sadar Bazaar Police Station in-charge Ajay Verma said the Bansals, who were riding a scooter, wanted the police to act against a bus driver who was driving rashly.
It led to a heated argument.
Verma said the CCTV footage, which went viral on social media, showed that it was the woman who purportedly attacked the two policemen and even bit one of them.

After the video surfaced, the transfer of the two policemen was stayed, and a first information report (FIR) was registered against the couple for 'obstructing public servant in the discharge of duty' under the IPC.
No arrest has been made yet.
The woman and her husband alleged that the police did not take any action against the bus driver, but were harassing them by filing an FIR.
Verma said the police were acting with fairness, and the couple can still file a complaint against the bus driver.
