An FIR has been registered against former Union Minister of State for Railways Naran Rathwa, his wife and son on charges of assaulting and robbing a woman at Chhota Udepur town near here, police said today.
Complainant Rekha Vaghela, a resident of Amreli, alleged that she was yesterday in Chhota Udepur with her son to register for BJP membership when Rathwa's son Sangramsinh and his accomplice Saurabh Shah assaulted her at the behest of the former minister.
She also alleged that she was robbed off her chain during the attack.
"We have registered an FIR under appropriate sections of the IPC including criminal intimidation and robbery against Rathwa, his wife, their son Sangramsinh and latter's accomplice and started investigations," Police Inspector R S Bariya said.
Vaghela alleged that she and her son were forced to get down from the bus they were travelling in and later she was attacked by Sangramsinh and Shah.
Interestingly, Vaghela had moved the Gujarat High Court earlier this year claiming that Rathwa had fathered her two sons and sought a direction to conduct a DNA test.

Rathwa had denied the allegations and filed a defamation suit against Vaghela in a local court.
While the ex-minister cannot be reached for comment as his phone was switched off, his son Sangramsinh, who is a local councillor, rubbished the allegations as baseless.
"I and Saurabh Shah were in the Town Council hall yesterday so how can we attack the woman? My parents too were not in town and were at their farm. These are baseless charges," he told PTI over phone.
