An FIR has been registered here against the MD of a nursing college after he allegedly prevented four girl students from appearing for an examination, police said.
The FIR was said to have been lodged upon Mathura District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar's directions against the MD of Brij Chikitsa Sansthan School of Nursing and Paramedical College for failing to act on the former's orders in respect of a plea by the girls that they be allowed to sit for the exams, which commenced on Feb. 18.
Govind Nagar police SHO Harish Vardhan confirmed that the FIR has been lodged and said they would tomorrow begin their inquiries into the matter.
Alleging that the college authorities were not giving them their admit cards "as they were seeking extra fees", the girls had approached DM Kumar, who had thereupon ordered the college authorities to allow the four to appear for the examination.
However, the girls were not allowed to sit for the exam following which they yesterday again went to the DM, who then ordered that an FIR be filed against the three members of the college management, including the MD.
Denying any wrongdoing on his part, the college's MD, Om Prakash, said, "I am not at all guilty. Since the girls neither filled their examination forms by Dec. 31, 2014, nor deposited the required fees, they are not entitled to appear for the examination.
"As per the rules, the money and the form is sent to the Uttar Pradesh State Medical Faculty, Lucknow, which sends the copy and examination programme."
Prakash added that he has "clarified" his position to the DM and "now the ball is in his court".
