The FIR was registered against inspector Jitendra Kumar, posted as in-charge of Jansath Police Station in Muzaffarnagar as he allegedly picked five youths from a hostel in Ghaziabad's Shantinagar area on April 21 and kept them in detention for two days, they said.
He allegedly took Rs 20 lakh from them to set them free.
The FIR was registered yesterday after one of the victims met DGP AC Sharma and narrated the entire story. PTI ABN PG
