Justice Manmohan would deliver the verdict on the plea of Mehra who had moved the court in 2009 for quashing of the FIR lodged by Sultanpuri MLA Jai Kishan for allegedly depicting a girl of Valmiki community in "derogatory" manner in the movie.

Delhi-6, starring Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor as lead actors, was reportedly based on Mehra's growing up years in Chandni Chowk of Walled City area had hit theatres in 2009.

The MLA had lodged the FIR on March 7, 2009 under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the Protection of Civil Rights Act against Mehra and the production house.

"The film insulted the community by depicting the role of a sweeper girl, who was shown belonging to the Valmiki community, and some scenes involving the said character in derogatory light," the FIR had alleged.

The court earlier had imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the MLA for his failure to respond to Mehra's petition.

Mehra, who was also a co-producer of the film, had sought quashing of criminal proceedings and denied the allegations saying "the registration of FIR and consequent investigation by local police was gross abuse of law as approval was granted to the film by Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC)."

The film, which was shown to members of the National Commission for SCs/STs and those of CBFC before its release, was granted a 'U' certificate, meaning it could be viewed by all. The film gave an "unambiguous" positive message to the society about social evils and it did not portray the community in poor light, Mehra had said.
