FIR against women SHG for 'hoarding' grains
Press Trust of India Hazaribagh (Jharkhand) The district administration today filed an FIR against the members of a women's self help group for allegedly hoarding rice meant for distribution among BPL people of Charwar Panchayat in Hazaribagh district.
Receiving complaints from the beneficiaries that they were allegedly denied their right to get rice under the Antyodaya scheme, a team headed by Executive Magistrate Anant Kumar raided the houses of the Mahila Mandal members and seized a total 12 quintals of rice, Kumar said.
An FIR was filed against all the members and no one has been arrested in this connection, he added.
The rice was packed in sacks and had the tag of Jharkhand State Food Corporation, he said.
Mahila Mandal president Kulwanti Devi, however, claimed that the rice bags were kept in their houses to save from raids by a herd of elephants, who entered the village recently.
