FIR lodged against 3 after college building's wall collapses

The retaining wall of an under-construction college building collapsed in the district, after which authorities lodged an FIR against three officials including the project contractor.
An 18.50 meters of the retaining wall of the under-construction inter-college building at Varnigad in the district caved on the night of February 17, District Magistrate Vinay Shankar Pandey said, adding that no one was injured in the incident.
An FIR was lodged against project manager AJP Dobriyal of Peyajal Nirman Nigam in Chamba, Assistant Engineer S K Verma, Additional Assistant Engineer Irshad and Messers MS Construction, New Tehri, for alleged misuse of forest resources and using inferior quality material in construction of the project, the DM said.
The FIR against the officials and the contractor was followed by an investigation carried out by the district administration, which found that poor quality of building material was used in the construction of the retaining wall which led to its sudden collapse, he said.
