No one was reported hurt in the incident, they said.
According to disaster control officials, the blaze erupted in the dumping ground at around 10.35 PM last night and they were informed about it by fire brigade personnel at about 10.42 PM.
More than three fire tenders and water tankers then rushed to the spot and managed to control the blaze, police said.
The cooling operation was still going on, they said, adding that cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.
