Fire at Raj Babbar's election office

A fire broke out at the Congress' election office, which was set up for party candidate Raj Babbar, at Siyani Gate area here early today.
The fire started at around 2.45 am at Congress party's office situated on Ambedkar Road of Siyani Gate area, fire department officials said, adding that there was no casualty but loss to property worth thousands could not be ruled out.
Congress had taken this office on a rent in view of the Lok Sabha elections for actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar who is the candidate from Ghaziabad Lok Sabha seat.
Officials of fire department said that by the time firemen arrived, heavy smoke had filled the air.
"Fire erupted at Congress Party's office around 2.45 am. Three fire tenders were pressed into service. It took half an hour for fire fighters to douse the flames," a senior official of fire department said.
Chairs, tables and other materials were gutted in the fire, the official said.
