No casualities or injuries were reported in the incident, said police.
According to Fire Service officials, the fire was reported at 8.30 pm and five fire tenders were rushed to the spot.
The fire was doused at 8.50 pm, after which a cooling operation was launched.
Investigation has been taken up to determine the cause of fire. Prima facie the fire started at the canteen on the second floor of the building, said a police officer.
"It is suspected that fire was caused by short circuit at a point to which an overheated sandwich maker was connected," he said.
