Fire Dept conducts awareness programmes to curb fire incidents

With several incidents of fire being reported in the last three weeks in the national capital, Delhi Government has initiated number of steps and conducted important activities in order to curb them.
The fire department had received 1701 number emergency calls for extinguishing fire which were attended with full alert, said chief fire officer, G C Mishra.
Mishra said that 34 awareness programmes were organised to make people aware in slum clusters by imparting training and by distributing posters and leaflets.
He also informed that Delhi Fire Service has also issued 73 fire safety certificates and has sanctioned 21 building plans or issuance of fire safety directives.
The latest fire incident was reported from the sixth floor of Shastri Bhavan which houses several central government ministries and other offices, police and fire officials said.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained although no one was injured in the incident.
