major fire that broke out in a slum at Jafferkhanpet area here tonight, Fire department officials said.
"We have almost put out the fire and are bringing the situation under control. Some 600 plus huts have been gutted," Divisional Fire Officer Meenakshi Vijayakumar told PTI.
Asked whether they feared any casualty, she said, "right now things are not clear and we are yet to get any information on that".
Nine fire tenders and six water lorries have been pressed into service, fire officials said.
The fire was reported at 8.37 PM, they said, adding that they were trying to ascertain the cause of fire.
