Fire in two shops, goods worth nearly Rs 20 lakh damaged

Two shops, including that of a well-known apprarel company, were gutted due to short circuit damaging property worth nearly Rs 20 lakh in Boring Road area today, fire brigade sources said.
The fire began from a shop and soon engulfed the apparel shop next to it, they said.
It also spread to an adjacent HDFC bank.
The estimate of the damage in the bank branch was not known immediately, the sources said.
Five fire tenders were pressed into service which doused the fire after nearly two hours.
There was no report of any casaulty, the sources said.
The shops are located in an apartment-cum-commercial centre in posh Boring Road area.
