"At around 2 pm, three men snatched a bag containing Rs 15 lakh at gun-point from a shop employee at the mall when he was on his way to deposit the money at a bank," SP (City) Yogesh Kumar said.

When the employee raised an alarm, an auto driver and a guard who were present nearby tried to block the path of the robbers, who opened fire, injuring the duo.

Bystanders nabbed two of the miscreants and beat them before handing them over to the police, Kumar said, adding that the stolen bag was recovered from them.

The injured and the two accused have been admitted to a nearby hospital.

Some eyewitnesses claimed there were three robbers, while others said there was one more accomplice waiting outside the mall.

"The two accused are unconscious at present. Once they regain consciousness we will question them on the whereabouts of the others," Kumar said.
