Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Firozpur Anuj Prakash told PTI that 1535 JTBS would be opened in 52 stations in the division and applications for the same have been invited till November 27.
He said the new general ticket booking counters would help the railways deal with huge rush of passengers and would also provide job opportunities for youths.
He informed that 18 JTBS counters are already operational for unreserved tickets in different cities - including in Ludhiyana (10), Jalandhar, Amristar (three each), Kotakpura and Pathankot Chhawani (one each) - in the division.
He said private agents have been a given pre-decided fare chart which have also been displayed at the YTKS.
Anybody can complain to the division office if they are demanded extra charges, Prakash said.
