First day's play between Assam and Saurashtra abandoned

The first day's proceedings between Assam and Saurashtra in a Ranji Trophy group B fixture was today called off because of persistent rains here.
With a deep depression over Bay of Bengal, it's been raining in the city for last two days and it was no different this morning as well. The ground remained under covers and the first day's play was called off at 11am.
The weather pattern clearly indicates that day two may also be affected.
