First full commission of UGC meets after Yogendra sacking
Press Trust of India New Delhi Days after activist Yogendra Yadav was sacked, the first full commission of UGC met today, during which it is understood to have turned down demands of some members for incorporating dissenting views on various issues in the minutes of the meeting.
Terming the commission's stand as "unjust", one of the members said the body was acting in an undemocratic manner and was averse to recording the dissenting views.
Yadav, who was retired last month from the body, had protested that the dissenting opinion in the meeting was not made part of its official minutes.
The meeting today was attended by Sanjay Govind Dhande, former director of IIT Kanpur, who has replaced Yadav.
Yadav was sacked on September 18 for being a member of Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party, with the Ministry saying his association with the apex body of higher education may give a scope for its "future politicisation".
