The south west monsoon has reached Delhi after making rapid progress over the last few days, well ahead of its normal onset, the Met department confirmed today.
Delhiites were greeted by the season's first monsoon showers this morning which brought down the temperature to 22.4 degrees Celsius, six notches below the season's average.
Rainfall measuring 21 mm lashed parts of the capital since morning while humidity in the air was recorded at 93 per cent at 8.30 AM, a MeT official said.
The weatherman has predicted that overcast conditions with light rains might continue throughout the day.
The maximum temperature is expected to be 36.8 degrees Celsius, same as yesterday.
The Met department on June 22 had forecast that monsoon was likely to hit Delhi by June 26, earlier than its normal arrival date of June 29.
Yesterday, the minimum temperature was recorded two notches below the normal at 25.8 degrees Celsius.
