First Solar commissions 130 MW projects

Solar PV solutions provider First Solar has commenced commercial operations of 80 MW and 50 MW projects in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, respectively.
"First Solar Power India has commenced commercial operation of 80 MW and 50 MW capacities in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, respectively. These projects are part of its 260 MW project portfolio," a statement issued here stated.
"After achieving a recent milestone of 1,000 MW PV solar capacity footprint in India, we have added 130 MW of utility scale solar power to the grid, growing our portfolio of operational solar assets to a cumulative capacity of 150 MW," First Solar's Country Head for India Sujoy Ghosh said.
The 130 MW plants will produce energy to power around 2,27,500 average homes in the country and will displace over 2,04,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.
The electricity from the projects will be purchased by the Southern Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh and The Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company under 25-year power purchase agreements, it added.
