State Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado furnished the information in a written reply tabled in the House yesterday.
"The reason for increase in production of fish in the state could be attributed towards a proper implementation of marine fish ban period of 61 days for the year 2015-16, in lieu of 47 days period for the year 2011-12 and other favourable environmental conditions," he said.
The ban on fishing is imposed in the state between June 1 to July 30, during which all the (fishing) jetties are closed and trawlers are parked on shore.
