In an April 2010 interview recently resurfaced by ABC News, Fisher revealed she got the idea watching that year's tribute to John Hughes, in which a group of actors who had appeared in his films joined together onstage during the video montage.
"I asked him (at a party) if he would be in my death reel, and if he would sing. It's just something I want," the actress had said.
"He's going to sing 'Melancholy Wookiee,'" Fisher joked. Asked if she had ever heard Ford sing, she quipped, "No, and I don't think we're missing much."
Fisher, best known to her fans as Princess Leia from 'Star Wars', died at age 60 after suffering cardiac arrest while on an airplane.
The 89th Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel will air on February 26.
