Five AP skaters part of Indian team for Malaysian event

Five young skaters from Andhra Pradesh have been selected to represent India in a national championship to be held next week in Malaysia.
Pratham Tated, Priyam Tated and M Vishal Anand (all from Visakhapatnam), Jaswanth Kumar and Riya Saboo (both from Vijayawada) will be part of the 14-member Indian team that will take part in the 11th Malaysian Open National Figure Skating Championship to be held in Kuala Lumpur from April 14 to 17.
All five were trained under the coach P Satyanarayana.
Talking to newspersons here today, General Secretary of Shivaji Park Skating Association (SPSA) Mahendra Tated and Bhavana Nair, Manager of Andhra skating team, said the five athletes have received numerous medals at the national-level championships.
The Ice Skating Association of India has selected the five skaters to participate in the Malaysian championship, they said.
Ahead of the event, they will attend a training camp in Kula Lumpur from April 6.

"Priyam Tated and Jaswanth have clinched medals in the international events and we are hopeful these skaters from AP will bring laurels to the country by winning medals in the prestigious event," they added.
Speaking at the press meet, the Malaysia-bound skaters said considering the popularity of the sport, the Government should extend support to it by building infrastructure.
Satyanarayana said along with the sport, these skaters are also pursuing their studies and they are sure to do India proud in the coming years.
