Five arrested for selling fake mobile phones

The five -- Bharat Bhushan, Sachin Kamra, Bhajan Singh, Sanjay Kumar and Raghubir Singh -- were arrested recently after police launched a probe into a specific input that fake mobile phones of a multi-national firm are in circulation in the market.

As part of the probe, police conducted a raid at a mobile shop in Karol Bagh owned by Bhajan Singh and seized 161 duplicate Samsung mobile phones and other accesories.

Police also raided another shop of Bharat Bhushan and recovered 130 duplicate Samsung mobile phones and 152 duplicate batteries.

Similar raid at a shop belonging to Kamra also led to police recovering several fake mobile devices.

A total of 432 duplicate mobile phones, 1210 stickers, 51 displays, 2150 bodies, 139 stereo ear phones and 23 travel chargers of Samsung were recovered during the raids, a senior police official said.

During interrogation, Bhajan said that he used to purchase duplicate mobile phones from Sanjay Kumar.

Sanjay disclosed that due to loses in his transport business he started selling such phones.
