Five persons were booked for blocking the national highway, pelting stones at police personnel and damaging government property to demand quota for Jats, police said here today.
According to the police, as many as 300 protesters had blocked the National highway sector 59 in Jhadsentali village here yesterday.
When police tried to intervene to end the blockade, the agitated protesters had pelted stones at them and their vehicles, a police spokesperson said, adding, some of the persons stranded in the traffic jam were also injured.
Many vehicles were also damaged in the protest, police said.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections against Ram Mehar, Hemant, Ramprasad, Sandeep and Rajeev of neighbouring sectors, the official said.
