An acid attack survivor, a social philanthropist, a domestic violence survivor, a cab driver and a cancer survivor were felicitated today for fighting all odds in their lives with an indominatable courage.
"Women form the nucleus of every family. Unfortunately they are the most neglected section of our society. There is an urgent need for action to propagate the prominence of preventive healthcare in women," said Sanjeev Vashishta, CEO of SRL Diagnostics, which honoured them.
The company also released a report on 'importance of early diagnosis in women' to promote the message of preventive healthcare.
The women who were felicitated included Sonia Choudhary (29), a resident of Ghaziabad, who was attacked with acid by her neighbour in 2004.
Even after the incident, she did not give up and adopted a girl child and runs her own beauty salon.
Anjina Rajagopalan (61) runs a home, Sai Kripa, for abandoned and orphaned children, on the outskirts of the capital in Noida.
