They were presented with 'Good Citizens Award' by Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat.
Those felicitated for their alertness and sense of duty as a citizen were 21-year-old girl student V Mounika, P Srikanth Goud and S Chandra Kanth, (both 19-year-old students) besides S Raji Reddy and R Srikanth.
On June 6 Mounika, a resident of Ramannapet village, was on a morning walk, when she noticed a car with a boy, aged around 12, along with other persons. Suspecting the boy might have been kidnapped, she immediately rushed to the Ramannapet police station and narrated what she saw, Bhagwat said.
"Police found six daggers, one axe and eight mobile phones in the car. It was later revealed the car occupants were members of a criminal gang who carried out highway robberies and dacoities," the Commissioner said.
The police, during investigation, succeeded in nabbing seven more members of the inter-state gang which was involved in nine offences in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Bhagwat said.
The four other award winners, including the two students, had nabbed two chain snatchers who had targeted a 75-year-old woman at Koheda village on June 18, the police added.
