An official statement said that a team headed by Parliamentary Secretary for Health S.Laldingliana today visited the premises of the proposed Hospital at Falkawn and reviewed the plans for shifting of the Civil Hospital there.
In the initial stage, departments of Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Dental, Gynaecology and Anaesthesia would be shifted during November and other departments would soon follow, the statement said.
A plan to establish a Referral Hospital at Falkawn more than 15 years ago did not materialise fully due to financial constraints and allegations of misuse of funds.
The state government recently made a decision to shift the Civil Hospital in Aizawl to this picturesque village where some infrastructure had already been made.
Officials said that Emergency department and Trauma Centre at the present premises would remain and would be improved and enlarged to accommodate more patients.
