Five IPS officers promoted to DGP grade in J&K

The Jammu and Kashmir government has promoted five Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to the Director General of Police (DGP) grade, an official spokesman said.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti here last evening.
The cabinet sanctioned the promotion of D R Doley, Navin Agarwal, V K Singh, S M Sahai and Dilbag Singh with effect from January 1, 2017.
The spokesman said while Doley, Agarwal and Sahai were promoted on a pro forma basis, Singh and Dilbag were promoted within the cadre.
The cabinet also approved the re-designation of the ex- cadre post of Special DG (Coordination) as Special DG, Headquarters, and the continuation of the earlier identified post of Commandant General, Home Guards/Civil Defence/State Disaster Response Force, J-K, which has been declared equivalent to the rank and status of a DGP, with effect from January 1, 2017, for a period of two years, the spokesman said.
