Acting on a tip off, the District Magistrate Anupam Kumar and the Superintendent of Police (SP) Manu Maharaj jointly raided the area and arrested five persons for carrying out illegal mining, the sources said.
Around 13 sacks of ammonium nitrate and 3000 detonators, besides 13 tractors and four dumpers were seized from the spot, they said.
The state government has banned renewal of mining licences to prevent illegal quarrying and mining of natural resources, the sources added.
