Five pilgrims mowed down by car in Banaskantha district

Five pilgrims, including three women, were mowed down by a car at Nenava village of Dhanera taluka of Banaskantha district today evening, the police said.
The accident also left the car driver severely injured and admitted to Dhanera Civil Hospital along with one of the injured pilgrim, said police inspector of Dhanera S D Patel.
"As part of the ritual, a group of 45 devotees of Chaklasi village of Kheda distrcit were headed towards Ranuja in Rajasthan to visit a famous temple. When they were passing from Nenava village on foot, a car comming from opposite direction suddenly lost control and hit the group walking along the road," Patel said.
"The car crushed three women and two male pedestrians, who died on the spot, while one person along with the car driver were admitted to hospital. We have initiated a process to file and FIR into the incident," Patel said.
The deceased have been identified as Kirtanben Vaghela (50), Kapilaben Vaghela (50) Sevantiben Vaghela (42), Jorabhai Vaghela (60) and Udesinh Gohil(50), Patel said.
