Five activists of People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) were today arrested and their weapons were recovered from a cave in Gumla district, a senior police official said.
Uday Gop, Sukhnath Lohra, Sambhu Mahto, Sukhdeo Oraon and Sakaldeep Singh were arrested from Bhandra village under Gumla police station following a tip-off, SP Bhimsen Tuti told reporters here.
Three others, Suresh Sahu, Mangneswar and Pradip Singh, managed to escape, he added.
A DDBL gun, two country-made riffles, four country-made pistols, thirty cartridges, 39 mobile phones, 24 mobile sim cards and seven extra mobile batteries were recovered from a cave on their guidance, he said.
"This is a big success for the police as PLFI activists were involved in the extortion from contractors. They would have also influenced the polls," Tuti said.
