"The proving flight visit was successful. The flight service between Sambalpur and Bhubaneswar will begin by the end of this month," said Trideep Rout, Director of the Air Odisha Aviation Private Limited.
The small aircraft alighted at the Jamadarpali-Hirakud airstrip, which is located around 10 km away from Sambalpur towhship.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has already given the green signal for the flight service between the two cities. Chief Flight Operation Inspector, Subodh Gangwani and Deputy Director Airworthyness, K K Majumdar of Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) were present during the proving flight visit today, said Rout.
Tickets would be available online also, he said.
The flight service would be available six days a week, Rout said adding there will be one flight daily between the two cities. The service will not be provided on Sundays.
The timing of the flight service was, however, yet to be finalised, he added.
