Flood alert sounded as Pilloor dam nears full capacity

: A flood alert has been sounded to people living downstream of the Bhavani river, who have been asked to move to safer places as the Pilloor dam is fast reaching full capacity, requiring release of surplus water.
The capacity touched 97 feet as against the full capacity of 100 feet due to heavy rains in the catchment area over the last two days, official sources said.
Since inflow was 12,000 cft per second,the administration decided to release water once the level touched 98 feet and so alerted the public, they said.
