A couple today drowned in a water-filled guest house at Jodhpur in Rajasthan. With this, the toll due to heavy rain in the city has escalated to 9, of which 5 died of lightening and 4 drowned, District Collector V C Mallik said.
One person was killed in Pithoragarh district in Uttarakhand after being caught in a landslide triggered by incessant rain which caused water level to shoot up in most rivers in the state.
"The maximum temperature settled at 34 degrees Celsius and the minimum was recorded at 23 degrees Celsius, both two notches below normal," a MeT official said.
The flood situation in Bihar that claimed 95 lives and affected 14 districts recently, is showing signs of improvement, the Disaster Management Department said.

Only 18 villages spread over three blocks - Baisa, Baisi and Amour - in Purnia district remain flooded, it said.
The department said two rivers, Ghaghra and Koshi, were still flowing above danger mark in Gangpur-Siswan area in Siwan and Baltara in Khagaria districts in Bihar respectively, while the flow in other rivers has ebbed below danger mark.
Debris falling from hillside in the wake of landslips continued to choke a large number of roads in the state including Rishikesh-Badrinath, Rishikesh-Kedarnath and Rishikesh Gangotri highways.
