Flood situation grim in Arunachal

The situation turned worse in Anjaw, Lohit, Changlang, Dibang Valley, East Siang and Upper Siang districts of the state with all the major rivers and their tributaries in spate and flowing above the red mark.

At Bordumsa under Lohit district, 100 people were rescued yesterday from Bijoypur I by local administration using country boats. They were later shifted to relief camp.

Additional deputy commissioner Kento Riba said Army boats would be pressed into service today at Bijoypur-III where 55 families are still stranded.

Emergency medical teams are in the area monitored by the district medical officer, he added.

Since June 23, the water level of Noa Dehing river is flowing above danger level submerging all the adjoining villages of Bijoypur I, II and III under Bordumsa Circle.

Administration has set up two relief camps with medical facilities at Bijoypur-III village.

Bijoypur-I village has borne the maximum wrath of nature and nearly 61 houses are still partially submerged under water.

The flood situation at Diyun Circle in Changlang district is also at a critical stage.

Noa Dehing River is flowing above danger level at Maitripur, Gautampur, Santipur, Jyotipur, Dumpani and Mudoi village.MORE
