Flood situation worsens in UP, dry weather in parts of North

The flood situation turned grim in Uttar Pradesh with major rivers in the state flowing above the red mark even as dry weather conditions today prevailed in some parts of the North.
The Delhiites experienced a hot and humid Sunday with the city recording no rainfall.
The maximum temperature was recorded two notches above the normal at 35.6 degree Celsius and the minimum was 26.7 degree Celsius, one notch above the normal, Met office said here.
Meanwhile, the humidity level oscillated between 48 to 79 per cent.
The Met officials has forecast light rain in some parts of the city tomorrow.

In Uttar Pradesh, thousands of villages have been inundated by flood waters, with the death toll in the deluge and other rain-related mishaps in the state this monsoon climbing to 280.

Two persons died today in Auraiya district in an incident of house collapse.
The relief commissioner office said a total population of over 17 lakh has been affected by the floods.
NDRF and PAC teams are conducting relief and rescue operations, and camps have been set up in affected districts including Ballia, Allahabad, Ghazipur and others, to provide food and shelter to the affected people.
Central Water Commission sources said Ganga is flowing above the red mark at Phaphamau, Mirzapur, Varanasi and Ballia whereas Yamuna is above the danger mark in Naini (Allahabad).
