The flyer, whose identity was not disclosed, was to board a flight bound for Sharjah from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) at Shamshabad.
Based on specific information, officers of DRI, Hyderabad Zonal Unit, intercepted him. On search, they found he was carrying foreign currencies -- euros and UAE dirhams -- valued at about Rs 1.19 crore, DRI Additional Director General M K Singh said in a release.
The flyer was scheduled to board an Air Arabia flight bound for Sharjah after clearing immigration and security checks, he said.
The passenger was later produced before a Special Judge of Economic Offences Court, which remanded him to 14-day judicial custody.
