Existing private FM broadcasters can now migrate from FM Phase-II to Phase-III by paying a one-time fee.
The Non-refundable One-Time Migration Fee (NOTMF) for a channel in Delhi is over Rs 33 crore, while the same for Mumbai is Rs 36 crore. For Chennai, the NOTMF per channel is over Rs 12 crore while it is over Rs 7 crore for Kolkata.
Notifying the NOTMF, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry said the city-wise calculations have been made on the basis of migration formula as suggested by TRAI in recommendations dated February 20 last yeat which were later approved by the government.
The ministry has categorised cities in five categories A plus, A, B, C and D.
The one-time migration fee has been calculated on the basis of successful bid amount (Non-refundable One Time Entry Fee i.E. NOTEF) as received in the recently concluded e-auction of the first batch of FM Phase III.
