In a statement here, he expressed concern over the shrinking farmlands and encroachment of water bodies. The government should desilt and clean water bodies to bring more lands under Agriculture and prevent farmland from being converted into real estate properties and house sites. Speedy action should be taken on the grievances of farmers.
Similarly it should also focus on developing industries in the state and realise that "Amma" schemes alone would not develop the state in any way.
Referring to the Raghuraman Rajan Committee report which said the state had achieved only 3.39 GDP,he said Tamil Nadu would not develop unless government focussed on the industrial and farm sector. An amount of Rs 250 crore was being spent on freebies and income for the same was being generated from liquor shops, he alleged.
