Inaugurating a Rs 7.65 crore Organic Agriculture Products Market here, Gogoi said his government was aiming at bringing an "agriculture revolution" in the state by increasing productivity and boost farm sector income.

"Globally the focus has shifted to organic methods of cultivation and farmers of Assam have to adopt the same strategy. Organic farming increases the nutrient value of cultivable land and is eco-friendly," he said.

The chief minister said his government would ensure that farmers received proper procurement price for their products.

"To take Assam among the most developed states of India, the focus on agriculture and allied activities in imperative. Though a lot of change has come to the farm sector in Assam in last few years, a lot more remains to be done," Gogoi said.
