Focus on water in next 'CMS Vatavaran' film festival

Water would be the main theme of the upcoming edition of 2015 CMS Vatavaran, the environment and wildlife film festival.
The festival, which highlights concerns about environment and wildlife through films, today announced a call for entries for the next edition on the occasion of World Environment Day.
The theme of the 8th competitive edition is 'Water for Life' with a special focus on 'conserving water bodies'.
"The environmental movement has moved from the periphery to the centre of human consciousness and some actions are being taken and some goals are being set but I am afraid we are very far in reaching those goals," said Karan Singh, President, Indian Council for Cultural Relations.

Singh lauded the festival for spreading awareness in the younger generation about environment issues.
Filmmaker Amol Palekar said he was glad to be a part of the festival's 2014 award jury.

"Films are a powerful medium of change and I hope award-winning films are used extensively for the same," he said.
The 8th competitive edition will be held from October 9-12, next year. The award money for Indian category ranges from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1,50,000.
In 2014, CMS Vatavaran received record submission of 541 entries including 337 international and 204 Indian films, said PN Vasanti, director CMS.
