Severe cold wave conditions today abated in Rajasthan giving respite to the people even as Sikar and Churu shivered at 4.5 degrees Celsius last night while fog continued in the state disturbing train services.
Due to a fresh western disturbance from Pakistan and Afghanistan through Caspian sea, cold wave abated and mercury rose by one to five degrees Celsius at many places in the state in last 24 hours, an MeT report said.
Due to fog in North Eastern Rajasthan and adjoining states of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, about 10 trains of North Western Railway are running late, CPRO Tarun Jain said.
Howrah-Sriganganagar train is running late by 11 hours 30 minutes, followed by Sealdah-Ajmer by 5 hours, Kolkata-Bikaner is delayed by 4 hours 10 minutes and Howrah-Jodhpur train is running late by 2 hours 30 minutes, he said, adding the other seven trains are delayed by 55 minutes to 1 hours 50 minutes.
Meanwhile, Tonk recorded a minimum temperature of 5.7 degrees Celsius followed by Sriganganagar 6.2 degrees Celsius, Pilani 6.3 degrees Celsius, Chittorgarh 8 degrees Celsius, Bundi 8.8 degrees Celsius, and the hill station of Mount Abu 7 degrees Celsius.
The people of Jaipur heaved a sigh of relief with mercury rising to 8 degrees Celsius, about 2 degrees more than it was yesterday, the MeT Department report said, adding elsewhere the night temperature varied between 9 and 11 degrees Celsius.
The current western disturbance would subside by early next week and fresh northerly winds would strike again during new year eve, the MeT forecast said.
